Troubleshooting Strange DLL Errors

Dynamic Link Libraries (DLLs) are used by Windows computers to save executable program codes and functions that can be called on by Windows and various programs installed on the computer to perform various operations.

Several DLL files are shipped along with your Windows computer and there are many that come later when you start installing various programs on it. Due to the presence of so many DLL files on the computer, the chances of DLL error are quite high.

Some of the common causes of DLL errors are:

  • Corrupt, missing, or incompatible DLL files.
  • Faulty programs and drivers.
  • Malfunctioning hardware.
  • Overheating of system components.
  • Virus infections.
  • Registry problems.

Given below are examples of some strange DLL errors that you may encounter while working on your computer.

Kernel32.dll is a file that belongs to the core of the Windows operating system and is responsible for several important operations, such as managing the memory, input/output operations, and interrupts. You may encounter Kernel32.dll errors on your computer, in the following conditions:

  • The Kernel32.dll file on your computer is damaged.
  • Kernel32.dll file is loaded in the protected memory space during the system startup. You may encounter Kernel32.dll error if some other programs tries to gain access to this space.
  • Hardware problems, such as malfunctioning or overheated components and damaged, corrupt, or buggy device drivers.
  • Faulty application and outdated BIOS.
  • Low disk space.
  • Registry or malware problems.

  • Use an antivirus tool to ensure that your system is free from viruses and that these malicious programs are not the cause of the errors being generated on your computer.
  • Update your computer to prevent DLL errors due to obsolete files.
  • Vacuum the hardware components of the computer to ensure that they are dust-free. This helps in preventing overheating of Windows components.
  • Avoid downloading and installing programs, games and utilities from unsolicited and dubious Web sites.
